06. Administration of Estates

When a loved one passes away we aim to provide the necessary reassurance regarding financial and legal matters.  Initially we gather, with the help of family members or friends, the financial information relating to the deceased.  It should become clear whether it is necessary to apply for a Grant of Probate.  The word “Probate” comes from the word “to prove”.  Such an application involves satisfying the Court Office that the Will was properly prepared and executed.  It is often necessary to prepare and submit an application to the Inland Revenue.  Again, we will assist you with this and explain the process.  It is only in larger estates that any tax is due and in these circumstances this will be carefully explained and reviewed to see how best to deal with any payment which is required.  It is important to the firm that all such matters are dealt with confidentially and as promptly as possible.
